Scholarships for Minorities
DELTA SIGMA THETA Scholarships
The Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. annually grants scholarships to African-American high school seniors who will enroll in an institution of higher education. All students must be currently enrolled in a Mecklenburg County public or private high school.

Ron Brown Scholar Program

Dorothy Counts Scoggins/E. Virginia Shadd " Breaking Barriers Scholarship (non-renewable)
- Graduating female senior
- Unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Plan to attend a four year institution
- Graduating female or male senior
- Unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher with significant improvement in his/her academics over a two year period
- Plan to attend a two (2) or four (4) year institution of higher education in the U.S. during the upcoming academic year
- Graduating female senior
- Must have a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Plan to attend a four (4) year institution of higher education in the U.S. during the upcoming academic year (Award disbursement based on confirmed enrollment)
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Program
Eligible students must meet the following requirements:
- Be a graduating high school senior;
- Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States;
- Show leadership potential;
- Demonstrate a dedication to community service;
- Present evidence of financial need;
- Be a United States citizen;
- Have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21;
- Not possess a degree from a 2 or 4–year College when applying for the scholarship

- Requirements: Must be Black/African American; Must excel academically; Must exhibit exceptional leadership potential; Must participate in community service activities; Demonstrate financial need; Be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card; Be a current high school senior at the time of your application.
