To Apply for Colleges:
- Most college applications will be filled out online on the college’s website under Undergraduate Admissions. If you are mailing an application in, be sure to mail directly from the post office to ensure correct postage.
- Pay close attention to application due dates. Most applications need to be received or postmarked on or before the due date, which should be on the application.
- Be sure that your application is legible and that you have answered all information correctly. Be sure to sign in the areas that require your signature, and have a parent/guardian sign if needed.
- To check on the status of your application, please contact the college directly. A general rule is to allow three weeks after mailing your application to inquire about your application’s status.
- Don’t forget to send an official transcript.
- Requests for out-of-state official transcripts can be done through the CMS Records Request for Current Students.
- Transcripts for scholarships and NCAA Clearinghouse are free.
- For FREE official transcripts to North Carolina Schools, please go through www.cfnc.org. Create an account.
- Click 'Apply'.
- Click 'To College'.
- Click 'Transcript Manager'.
- There, you will click the college where you would like your transcript to be sent
- If you need a recommendation letter from your counselor, be sure to complete the Senior Brag Sheet. Brag Sheets can be obtained in the Student Services office or the file below. Please allow counselors 10 school days to process your recommendation letter request.
- Provide teachers who will be writing letters of recommendation a stamped, self addressed envelope to be mailed directly to the college. Write them a nice thank you letter afterwards.
